Magnus Young ‘16

Chef de Cuisine, Clif Family Winery & Farm | St. Helena, CA

Magnus Young ‘16 is chef de cuisine at Clif Family Winery & Farm. Originally from Calgary, Alberta, Canada, Magnus discovered his passion for food and cooking as a child assisting his enthusiast father in the kitchen. Though he started working professionally in kitchens while still in school, his journey as a chef really began when he moved to South Carolina and worked in fine dining restaurants around Charleston. From there, he would go on to attend the CIA campus at Greystone and graduated in 2016. After graduating, Magnus worked under chef Hiro Sone at Michelin starred restaurant Terra in St. Helena and later began working at Clif Family where he has remained since. Here he is excited to work in a very dynamic and collaborative environment where he works with and highlights Clif Family’s own farm produce, which has received the CCOF certification (California Certified Organic Farmers) and where he applies “root to shoot” cooking principles and techniques. @cliffamily (Instagram)
