Ezme – Turkish Tomato and Poblano Relish
Ezme is a delicious sweet and tangy Turkish relish or salad served as part of mezze. The stewed peppers, herbs, garlic and tomatoes are a common side dish served with kebabs. Find the video, recipe, and printable recipe PDF below!
Yield: 2 pints
Method
Place the onions and olive oil in a pot and cook over low heat until soft.
Add the garlic and spices and cook until aromatic.
Add the tomatoes, cider vinegar and brown sugar. Cook until thickened.
Add the poblano pepper, pomegranate syrup, and salt to taste. Simmer until thick.

¼ cup Extra-virgin olive oil
8 Tbsp. Onion, grated
2 Tbsp. (about 8 cloves) Garlic, minced
1 tsp. Sweet paprika or Turkish paprika (kirmizi biber)
½ tsp. or as needed, Aleppo or Maras chili pepper or cayenne
2 lbs. (about 4 cups) Tomatoes, peeled, seeded, chopped
1/3 cup Cider vinegar
2 Tbsp. Brown sugar
2 ea. (about ½ cup) Poblano chiles, roasted, peeled, chopped
as needed, Pomegranate molasses
as needed, Salt
